Gut Healing Recipes
Below is a mixture of recipes to get you started on your journey to a happy and healthy life.

Chia Seed Pudding

1 cup liquid (any milk will do)
4 tbsp. chia seeds
1 tsp. sweetener (raw honey or maple syrup)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 scoop collagen
(Add fresh berries, banana or other fruit)
Add all ingredients to a mason jar. Either use a frother or stir to blend evenly. Set in refrigerator for 2 hours or over night.

Why this recipe? Chia seeds are a source of omega 3 essential fatty acids. Omega 3 is a super healer for the digestive track. Combine this with collagen for a super charged gut healing recipe.

Gut Healing Smoothie

1 scoop Bone Broth Protein Powder
Coconut water
Banana
1 scoop collagen
Add ingredients to a blender and enjoy!
Why this recipe? Bone broth is central to healing leaky gut. Although consuming homemade broth made from regeneratively raised animals is best, the protein powder is a good alternative and easy to implement.

Homemade mayonnaise

2 pastured chicken eggs
1 cup (olive oil or avocado oil)
lemon juice
sea salt

Cherry Vanilla Collagen Smoothie
​
1 1/2 cup coconut milk
1 cup frozen cherries
1 scoop vanilla Bone Broth Protein powder (www.ancientnutrition.com)
1 scoop collagen (www.ancientnutrition.com)
Ice cubes (optional)
Place ingredients in a blender, blend until smooth.

Collagen Coffee
1 ½ cups organic brewed coffee
1 tablespoon butter from grass fed cows
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 scoop collagen
1 scoop vanilla Bone Broth Protein powder (optional)
Place in a blender, blend until smooth.

Homemade Bone Broth Recipe

Two options, cook on the stove top for 24 hours at a simmer or cook in an Instant Pot for 4 hours under pressure.

Chicken bones – (roast an organic chicken, consume all the meat)
2 Carrots chopped into 1 inch pieces
2 Celery stalks chopped into 1 inch pieces
1 Onion quartered including the skin
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
Add enough water to completely cover the bones (4-5 quarts)
Optional – add spices, chicken feet (adds more collagen)

Place all ingredients into a pot, add vinegar and let sit for 45 minutes (extracts additional minerals from the bones). Simmer for 24 hours or under pressure for 4 hours. When completed, discard all the ingredients, pass through a metal mesh strainer into quart mason jars. Makes approximately 5 quarts. Freeze jars that may not be used immediately.

Healthy Key Lime Pie (Gluten free, dairy free, no bake)
This does not officially count as a gut healing recipe, but it sure beats the typical Key Lime Pie recipes out there. Once you have this key lime pie recipe you will NEVER go back!

Crust:
1/2 cup pecans
6 pitted dates
1/2 cup unsweetened flaked coconut
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 tsp lime zest (optional)
Add all ingredients to the bowl of a food processor and process until well chopped and combined. When you pinch the dough between two fingers it should stick together. If it is too crumbly add a splash of water. Press crust into mini pie plates, or one traditionally sized pie plate.

Avocado Key Lime Pie Filling:
2 avocados
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 ½ tbsp. organic sugar (optional)
1/3 cup key lime juice (or regular lime juice will also work)
1 tsp key lime zest (optional)
1/2 cup coconut cream
2 tbsp coconut oil, melted but not hot
½ tsp. sea salt

Prepare the filling by combining all ingredients in a food processor and processing until smooth. Pour into pie plates and freeze for 10-15 minutes. Serve cold with whipped coconut cream and additional lime zest (optional).
