Traveling Green Smoothies

Posted on May 14, 2012

Green smoothies are the rage and I am totally on board.  My energy levels are 100% better, the afternoon low points disappeared and better yet, my skin is much nicer.  Weight has never been much of an issue but I know those green smoothies are helping others.  So addicted am I that no day goes by without the green smoothie.

So what do do when traveling?  I searched the internet high and low for the perfect solution but came up empty handed.  How do you travel and maintain those green smoothies?  After two tries, I can claim success.  On the road smoothies do require some pre-planning but hey, so does life.

I purchased the Magic Bullet - is there a better option?  Let me know if you are an expert and can recommend a different machine.  All the Magic Bullet accessories went into long term storage, who needs all that stuff anyway?  The blender was packed along with my clothes.  I even took a picture for you!

I packed a small lunch bag with two apples, one avocado, greens, chia seeds, 2 packets stevia and a paring knife.  (Yes plan on checking this bag).  That is it.  The smoothies were not my best but so much better than the Holiday Inn breakfast offerings.  I used water as the base, the stevia helped to make the smoothie tasty.  The good part was the little refrigerator in the room.  Not really necessary in a pinch, the greens would have survived with out it.

I am sure there are some true experts out there, please pass those ideas along!
